Pansy

It's been a really beautiful day today and it was a real delight to sit out and stitch in the garden today. Pickles thought it was a good idea too, she came and kept me company.

I have started on the pansy, my first piece of stitching for the Summer Challenge on the Hand Embroidery Group.

I have really enjoyed doing this today and will continue tomorrow to get it finished.

The petals have been outlined in split stitch and filled with long and short stitch. The yellow centre of the bottom petal has been done in satin stitch.

Can't wait to get it finished.

I adore cats. Yours is gorgeous and so is your work!

Beautiful stitching! I should bookmark this, so I can find it again to study closely. I have some tablecloths and doilies in my vintage stash, that feature pansies, and I know by bitter experience, that if they aren't done properly, the last thing they look like are pansies!

Pickles looks very comfortable there.
The pansy looks great. So envious: have tried this kind of embroidery on many occasions & it never looks that neat. Will enjoy watching your piece grow. :0)
