My crafting holiday begins here

Well not much has been going on here craftwise the last couple of days. It has been rather hectic getting the boys ready to go away and the activities we had planned.

I did go shopping in preparation for some of the projects I want to do. Shopping for materials is a bit hard when you're new to the area. I am finding it hard to find what I want.

Atkinsons at The Moor in Sheffield is great for knitting yarn and the marble yarn is to do a jumper for D. However, I couldn't get any DMC Perle cotton there, so I went to John Lewis to see what I could find.

They had plenty of stranded cottons, but not the perle. I didn't particularly want to go to Hobbycraft as that would entail taking two buses, or a bus and the tram, so I thought I'd have a look round and see if there was anything else that might be suitable.

I was looking for something to stitch the outlines of blocks on a needlepoint piece and I saw the Rowan cotton. It was the right colour to blend in with the colours I had chosen and it would produce a raised border. I will experiment and see how it goes. If all else fails, it will be a trip to Hobbycraft!

In the meantime, I have managed to do a few rows of knitting and caught up with some blog reading. Now I can really get started.
