When the boys were very little, I made a footstool from an old stereo speaker. Over the years, it's had a lot of use, and in the last week or so, fifteen years of hard service took it's toll.
The cover finally wore out, and split across the top. Fortunately, I was able to prise off the top without damaging the MDF to which the foam top is attached.
A new cover was stapled on, covering the old one, and the top was glued back in place. It now looks as good as new.
