I need some advice

In between all the other things happening today, I have only managed to knit half a sleeve. I had hoped I would have had enough time to do a whole one. It was one of those days when, everytime I sat down to knit, something else demanded my attention. Never mind, half a sleeve is better than none.

I have discovered a little wool shop not too far from where we live. They also do a small amount of cross stitch and embroidery items, little silk flowers, jewelry making equipment and dressmaking fabric. While we were there, J chose the wool for his scarf and D got some wool for an aran jumper he wants me to knit.
I was excited to discover they offer classes here. Dressmaking is what they concentrate on more, but they are also doing a textile arts course. Just what I have always wanted to do. They have already had 3 of the 12 sessions, but I could get on for the last nine. I would love to do this. I just have to work out what to do with the children if I want to go.

Now for the advice. As you may have remembered, I had to get some more linen to redo the Sampler Espanol. The fabric arrived today, and the drawbacks of online shopping are very evident. The colour is darker than I was expecting. So do I go with it, or do I buy some more linen, but lighter? I'd very much welcome your feedback. The other option would be to change the colour of the thread.

The linen is a darker grey than it had looked, but it is a blue grey, if you know what I mean, whereas the linen I had before was so much lighter. It looks more cream against this one.

Well, I am going to sleep on it and hope that I will get some inspiration and wake up to some helpful comments.

Many thanks, and have a good night

I can't really advise except to say, it really is your choice, how do you feel about it, yes it is darker more bluey, but have you looked closely at how the colours will play together, did you try putting a different thread against it? Maybe after a play about and looking at it for a few days it will grow on you.

Hmmm... I don't know that I'm going to be able to make a helpful comment, but I guess I'd go with whether I like the way the colors work together after all, even if they weren't quite what I'd expected. Good luck deciding!

why don't you try a tiny bit of sampling on this linen. add some stitches in the corner to see how it will look, lay other colours on it that match your idea, play with it for a while.

It's a little hard to judge because monitor screens can also vary in colour. Looking at the pics on my screen, I think the colours would still work together. That said, I'd advise to go with your gut instinct. ~ :)

I think you did well for getting half a sleeve done but I do understand what you mean because I've had similar days where distractions stopped me from getting some painting done in the studio.

Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog, which brought me here!

Your knitting is gorgeous (and inspires me to learn to knit!)

As far as the fabric goes, I'm with Karen - try a couple of stitches in a corner and see what you think!

I can't wait to see the result!

I've no confidence with colours so can't really say but Karen's advice to try a sample stitch in the corner is good.
Don't you just hate days like that? Hope you manage to get some uninterrupted time for your crafts now.
Like the look of the two new yarns. Good going on the sleeve.
Hope you manage to do the rest of the course. :0)
