Back in December, there was a brilliant tutorial on Sew We Quilt for rice bags. They're fantastic to use as heat pads, and also ice packs. I thought they'd be perfect to use up some of the scraps in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, and to keep as gifts.
This is the inner bag, sealed and part filled with rice. This fits perfectly into it's washable pillowcase.
Definitely more flexible than a hot water bottle.

Very nice. I make mine out of polar fleece that is fuzzy on both sides and will not catch fire in the microwave. I double sew the seams but I like field corn as a filler. It smells a lot nicer than hot rice. I have made them in many different sizes and I use mine in my lap on a cold winter night while watching TV and under a blanket.
I was going to tell you that mom makes them with corn, but she beat me to it! LOL It makes the house smell like popcorn when you heat them up.
Other fillings i use wheat (chicken feed) from the grocery store in my heat packs. The physio has sand filled ones they heat in a steamer.
Great for everything!!
You did a great job of making this! I really like making these....I use rice and add a little lavender essential oil which makes them smell heavenly....
