When you know they won't behave

When we acquired the dog a couple of months ago, we tried to keep the rules pretty much as he was used to.  He wasn't allowed upstairs, which was great for us. It gave the cats sanctuary, and he wasn't allowed on the furniture.  Fine by me, but not appreciated by the boys.

However, like the boys, the dog does what he's supposed when you are looking(most of the time), but when your back is turned, he will do just what he likes.

Knowing this, and having seen him sneaking onto the settee almost before the door is closed at bedtime, I thought I would make a cover to go on the seat at.  At least it would stop everyone getting hairy bottoms when they sat down.

Here is the dog's quilt, and just because he doesn't always sit on the same settee, I will have to do another one for the other settee.  I ran out of thread by the time I had finished this one so it will have to wait for another day. However, I do know it meets with the dog's approval.  He's sat on it for the last two nights.  I wonder if the cuddle I got this morning was to say thank you!

Maybe he likes it because it's so soft and snuggly! :0)

Great idea...if you can't fight them, join them! A great cuddle quilt!

I'm sure the cuddle was a thankyou for a wonderful blankie of his own.
Good idea.

I am sure the dog loved the quilt. Our 1 1/2 year old border collie has a fleece blanket he sleeps on and moves it around with him. I just found your blog through mutual blogging friends. I am going to enjoy following it!!

It's certainly nice to have a dog who appreciates your needlework!

I think I could quite happily snuggle down in that myself, dog or not. :)

I bet it was! That's an excellent plan (and I must admit to being one of those people who lets her dog on the couch, mostly because I love a cuddle on a cold evening!) :)

Sounds like this was a good compromise for all!

Our dog knows she's not to get on the furniture or the beds. She does really good when we are home but we have to shut our bedroom doors so she doesn't get on the beds while we are away. Sneaky little girl! I know when she's done something too, she has that guilty look on her face. (Just like a child or a husband!) I made her a doggie bed but she doesn't like it. I guess I need to make her a quilt. Hmm, I guess I'll add her to my list.

You are so clever!

I didn't know you had a dog. I think we need a picture of him on his newly covered settee.
