Good and bad news

The good news is that after three days part one of Alla Turca is complete and it has been a complete joy to stitch. The bad news is that I must have had a mad moment when I positioned the centre. I noticed last night the I had started about 2/3 inches too far down. Only thing I can think is that I got distracted for a moment.

I decides to continue stitching as I thought I could use this part to make a cushion cover. It will then coordinate with the framed piece on the wall. This means I have another three days worth of stitching to complete Part One-again!

Yesterday I went to Hobbycraft and came back with a few bits ans pieces. Couldn't resist a pattern reduced to 29p. I also purchased wool for a jumper for D and some for a Yahoo KAL for a blanket made up of patterned squares, some DMC threads and a shopping bag to decorate.
As the boys spent a couple of hours swimming today I took D's jumper with me and made a good start on the front. The pattern is straightforward enough to cope with the distractions of chatting and watching the boys. I didn't think I did too badly for the amount of time I had and it was better than sitting and twiddling my thumbs.

There was also more shopping today. I got some other yarn for the blanket which was reduced at John Lewis, some beads, gingham (also reduced) and ribbon to use on this months project from Sharon B. It is to explore chicken scratch embroidery and I have a few ideas swimming around my head. All I have to do is to get them onto fabric.

I think I have plenty to keep me out of mischief over the next couple of weeks. Just a shame there is a mountain of ironing awaiting my attention tomorrow.

Your stitching is lovely. It is a pain when you have to redo something....but at least you get 2 somethings out of it! I had to smile @ your visit to Lewis'....just over 40 years ago I used to get my hair cut @ the one in Manchester....and I shook hands with a dalek there, too....I wonder if that is why I'm still a big Dr Who fan?

I hate it when that happens! Stitching the same thing twice is no fun. But it is a pretty design. And all that new stash should ease the pain!

I made a similar mistake on the same piece! I took the middle arrow pointing up as the middle of the piece, when I discovred the mistake, I began again then decided the fabric wasn't big enough anyway so found some more! I hadn't done as much as you but a cushion cover will look wonderful!
