A Bunch of Cherries

As I'm not buying any new fabric for a while to finish quilts, I've been looking through some of the patterns I've saved on my computer.  One of them was this applique bunch of cherries.
It's come from the DMC threads blog.  I did try to do it by machine, but the hand applique block definitely came out better.

The leaves and cherries are appliqued, but the stems are embroidered using stem stitch.  I'm not exactly sure what I will do with this, though I do have a couple of ideas floating around.  Whatever I do will have to wait until after my fabric diet ends.

Looks good. I have a resolution to shop from my stash and I only by a yard here and there, so I CAN complete a top. Backs are scrappy only, not allowed to buy for those. Money is tight, and stash is big, well not like others I know. But big enough to make many, many, many quilt tops from. Good luck on the diet.

It looks good. It is good sometimes to have a think about what to do with a design....That way we LIKE what we have made...not just feel like we have to finish it. Good luck on your stash diet.

Cute cherries! I think you should do a whole bunch of other fruits and make a wall hanging out of them! :0)

Cute block. Your applique looks very nice... I'm trying to work out of my stash too so I'm kinda on a fabric diet too. I binge every now and then though!

There's something rather nice about working through your stash, whatever the size. Not only do you get lovely new things, but feel very pious too.

Love these cherries.
