Noun 1. nook - a sheltered and secluded place
retreat - a place of privacy; a place affording peace and quiet
This weeks theme for Creative Tuesday was nook. Using the above definition, I thought of my retreat. In this house of boys, it's the bath. I can go and escape, with my cup of tea and a book, and know I can get half hours peace and quiet.
This is my dream Victorian roll topped bath on legs, filled to the top with steaming water with plenty of bubbles.
I was going to add it to a bag for holding bathroom smellies, but there was a bit of a miscalculation.
I boxed off the corners the wrong way, so I ended up with the seam at the longest side. This meant the stitching wasn't going to be on the facing side, so.......
I ended up with this- it can be a door hanger or a picture. Maybe next time, I will follow the tutorial and make a fabric basket.

waJane I've just read all the way back to Fridaynight sew in. Wow have I missed a lot. All your finishes are great.
Love the new look. Terry
Your site looks beautiful!
I like the tub and think this design would look great as a neck pillow while in the tub!
What a lovely project! Love this bath tub design!
It looks great as a door hanger! And I love your new blog look too! All the patchwork you've been doing must be rubbing off on you! :0)
loving the new look blog!!
Love the new look of the site and the bath tub. That's my ideal retreat with a magazine and a cold glass of wine (obviously with snoozing children so they're not banging on the door! :-))
Your work is always so beautiful.
love your nook! can't think of a more private place. amazing what you can create with stitches.
Ahhhhhh I feel relaxed already. Hope the boys don't get it caught in the door now? Looks Perfect!

Oh, what a great idea for nook! Clever and the fact you stitch these always astounds me. Must take ages, no? your retreat sounds perfect, but tell me, ow do you stop your books from getting wet? Well, now that my computer is working again I am finally visiting people and creating the montage of all our works. Check back tomorrow. there will be a link back to you so others can enjoy this too. thank you so much, Jane, for joining in.
I always love your entries as I know they a little different being sewn. There are so many ways to be involved in art and I am so glad you participate. Great interpretation.

a bath...the perfect retreat!
Very clever. A simple effective image.
I enjoyed the reminder of my grandmothers' favorite pasttime of embroidery. Unfortunately I was never talented as they were (nor will I ever be)! Thanks for sharing your talent.
