Even before having the boys, I'd wanted to do hardanger. I've seen the instructions in magazines, and decided I'd rather be shown how to do it, than muddle along on my own. Cutting the fabric seemed such a frightening prospect. I was delighted when there was a workshop planned for when the boys would be away so I could attend.
This piece, star-flake, was the first.
Having completed the first piece before lunch, there was time to start a second. This one is called Craftastic tile.
I have a bit more stitching to do on this before I do the cutting, so hopefully it won't be too long before I get it finished. After this class, I wish I had taken the plunge years ago. Now I can make up for lost time.

Lovely work - I love hardanger.
I have designed three bookmarks which I sell in aid of charity. Please have a look at my charity site (they are about three posts down I think)

Good luck with your new found skills :)
You are doing a fabulous job there. Hardanger is lovely. I love the colours, too.
Dear Lou, what a wonderful job you have done. I do not know the word hardanger. It looks like cross stitch but is obviously not. Can you refer me to a tutorial site. Thanks
QMM
They're both beautiful, and the red thread is so vibrant. Very nice!
These are beautiful - great for your first attempt, Jane! The ladies at our Guild do absolutely stunning hardanger; my jaw drops when I look at their work. They all tell me it is easy, and that I could pick it up quickly because I already do counted thread cross stitch. Yeah well, maybe...but I don't want to start learning ANOTHER craft!!
Very nice-have fun with it..I love the red. hugs, Linda
I hsven't tried Hardanger, but like the red on white of your second piece. Looking forward to seeing them cut.
Your stitching is beautiful! I've always loved the look of hardanger but that's another thing I've never done.
Lovely pieces. I love the effect that Hardanger creates. I learned to do it on my C&G embroidery course and really should use it more often.
What a perfect job! The cutting scares me too. I don't even think I have a good enough scissors, much less the patience to do such exacting cuts.
they are beautiful!!i like the star flake
wow...that looks pretty...yeah...cutting is always scary for me
