Jelly Roll Scraps

After the clear out of fabric the other day, I thought I'd better work out a way of using all the fabric scraps. The scraps from the Jelly Roll QAL had gone into a little tub.  These consisted mainly of  3" strips I hadn't used in the binding of the Jelly Roll Quilt.

I spent yesterday making them into blocks and had just enough to get 12.  Now I need to get some sashing and backing to make into another quilt.  It should be lap quilt size, so not bad for scraps.

One thing about photos, you get to see how things look, and I will be rearranging the blocks before the final joining together.  Even though they had all changed positions about three times, I've just seen a better layout.

There are still a few bits left from the Jelly Roll, but I think I have an idea for using them up. More on that another day.

\sometimes if I have a few bits of fabric left I'll use it to make a label for the quilt. If necessary I join pieces together, then embroider the details onto it.

Your blocks look good! Amazing sometimes what I see in a photograph that I don't see when it's right in front of me! LOL

It's great to be so thrifty and manage to use up all the scraps. This should be interesting.

Really like the 9 patches.
We all use up our scraps. Guess it's part of our natures.

They look great! How fun that scraps can turn into a quilt like that :) And I know what you mean about photos - they provide an interesting distance from things that sometimes lets you see them differently.

Great way to use up your scraps. Bonnie over at http://quiltville.com/ has oodles of way to use up scraps and other worthwhile bits and pieces. Good on you for keeping your scraps under control. Mine need a whip and a chair.
