I saw a tutorial for hanging towels and thought they would be make perfect gifts.
I ended up adapting the process as I went along. Making the triangle of fabric at the top, with the ribbon loop was simple enough. I found the hem on the towel made it too bulky to gather properly so I trimmed the towel down, and found the process much easier.
However, the towel was too long to hang from my hook which I was using as a guide, so the next one I trimmed down even more. By the time I got to the third one, I'd found the ideal length. These are ideal for hanging from cupboard door handles and knobs, or from hooks, a great way to keep track of the towel in the kitchen.
Once that was done, it was on to completing a surprise for DS2.
Some time ago, he did this picture on parchment. He had to do some embossing and colouring. He should have coloured the parchment a pale blue first, but we didn't have the correct stuff to do it at the time. My solution was to place a pale blue sheet of card behind.
I then cut an aperture in some dark blue card and framed it for him. I think he has forgotten all about this picture, so hopefully, it will be a lovely surprise for him when he comes home.

Really like the hanging towels do you think I could adapt it for golf towels for DH? I think I can.
DS did a great job on the spider good onya for framing it.
The towels really are a great gift idea. And now that you have the specs down pat, they should be pretty quick to make.
Your son is going to be so surprised. That's a perfect way to showcase his work.
Good job on the towels! I made some of them long ago from kitchen towels to hang on the oven door. Love picture too...good job getting it framed! I think someone will be surprised when he gets home! :0)
No big surprise here that your son is an excellent artist! I love the spider picture and the frame is wonderful. He should be thrilled with this.
The towels are great, too.
see I change beds for my little boy, you make pictures!! Shows you where my OCD is focused!! I bet he's really chuffed when he sees it!
Very neat idea with towel hanger....
Love the parchment art too! It looks amazing!
The hanging towels are great. I've done them with fabric for the upper part and I've also crocheted the upper part. Alot of times I cut the towels down the middle and make two towels out of it. Sometimes, I just fold it down and attach the top sewn part to it...They make great gifts. I usually make a potholder to go with them...
The picture is great, I know your son will love what you did for him. You are such a thoughtful Mom, I hope they appreciate you!
Like the hanging towel idea. Love the pic DS2 has done (he's good!) & you've framed it perfectly.
