Some years ago, I did an online black work course and this mushroom was the result. It has been waiting very patiently to be finished. After some discussion with a fellow blogger, thank you Terry, I decided it would be a great way to decorate a bag. I had some off white and dark brown fabric in my stash. The brown fabric has a small flower, leave and stem print, so I thought it would fit in really well.
I used the brown as a border to the top of the back and for the lining. It is off to Wendy Jo in the USA and I hope she will be happy with it.
I've just heard it has arrived safely and Wendy Jo LOVES bags. How lucky was that!

That design was just waiting to be appliqued to a bag. It looks perfect with that brown fabric trim. I'm sure your partner will use that one a lot.

It's so cute! Who wouldn't be happy with that bag?
I love Blackwork, Jane - and your mushroom piece is a stunning example. It looks super on the bag you made - how could you bear to part with it? Still, that's the point of exchanges, isn't it - that you get something nice in return for your own work.
Oh, this bag is so beautiful! Really love your stitching! I am sure Jo will love it!
