The abrupt ending of the jumper meant I had plenty of time to start stitching something else. I asked the boys what colours they wanted for their initials. The first response was black and brown, brown because it's like chocolate. There has been progress since, the brown is now red. I am still working on the black.
It seemed as if the sea picture would probably be a bit more satisfying to stitch, the colours are definitely more interesting. I am doing the waves at the moment. The only stitch used is satin stitch.
This is the first time I have used Madeira threads and I really am enjoying it. They seem to have a silkier finish to DMC. I can't wait to get the back to this today.

Shame that you ran out of wool NOT because you have started your embroidery and it is looking good. Can't wait to see more of it. Lots of love Patti xxx
I haven't used 'Madeira' threads before, I understand they are easier to unpack, if you know what I mean. It's annoying when you run out of wool so near the end .
Wow! I can imagine how hard it is working with the black!
Hope you can get more wool. I have never knit anything black. Although I made my DH a navy blue sweater once. Black and Red is not such a bad combination!
Hope you manage to get some more wool OK. Love the new embroidery piece. :0)
Argh! You really were very close. But it looks like you found the silver lining in those new projects :)
All looks great..... I remember when I have knitted in the past I used to "stretch" everything to try and make it look finished. I can still hear my Mother..... Keep going.....
This always happens! Isn't it frustrating? I always buy one skein more than I think I need, and still I run out.
So sad abouth the wool. That embroidery is lovely. I have never used the Madiera threads, but will be on the lookout for them if I ever want to do something more silky than the DMC floss. knitting my very own jersey is on my bucket list. That and socks of my very own.
