Friday Night Sew In

This month, there were no unexpected happenings, so I could participate in Friday Night Sew In with no problems.  I decided to work on the latest cross stitch I'm doing, I really would like to get this finished before the boys come home, but I think that might be a little over ambitious.

The design comes from an old Cross Stitch Gold Magazine.  I chose to do it, as I love poppies.  I don't have anywhere to put them in the garden, so I'll just have to make do with stitching them.

This is where I was when I started on this yesterday.  The bottom line is the bottom of the picture, the chart for that portion is over the page, so that will be started once I've finished the left side.
And this is where I was when I went to bed.  Slowly, but surely, the space is getting filled in.  I shall just keep doing it bit by bit every day.

Happy Dance

Ever since being shown the basics of crochet as a child and forgetting them as I grew up, I've wanted to be able to read a crochet pattern, and make something "proper".  It didn't take long to remember how to do the squares and the basic stitches, but I wanted to be able to make garments, just as I did with knitting needles.

Well this week, I did it!  I read a pattern and I have a jacket.
It might be small, but it's still a jacket, and it's the proper size and shape.  More importantly, it's wearable!  I love the little flower decorations too, and in case you're wondering, the other bits are leaves.  Next time I go into town, I'm hoping to find some pretty buttons to finish this.

This was crocheted using a cotton yarn mixed with kapok.  The kapok really softens the feel of the cotton, I'll look forward to using it again.

Well, tonight is Friday Night Sew In.  I have a cross stitch in progress, so I shall work on that as it's one of the projects on my list to finish before the boys come home.

Friday Night Sew In

Finally, I'm beginning to get some projects completed, and it feels good.   There's nothing like knowing that lots of people will be joining in on the FNSI to get you motivated.
This is the first of the purple table toppers to get completed.  I used simple quilting on this one.  I went around the ditch of the inner square and then diagonally across from the inner corners.  The binding was machine stitched on, and a quick finish was the result.

The rest of the evening was spent adding more back stitch detailing to the the cross stitch.  Hopefully,  a couple more evenings will see this done.  In the meantime, the garden is calling out for some attention.

Friday Night Sew In

Let me introduce you to Flyboy Jacob, the latest design released by Little Ladybug Creations.
My Friday evening of sewing saw me finishing the stitching on this design.  As you can see, he needs a wash to get rid of the transfer lines and the wrinkles from stitching.  He will then become a wall hanging, though it may take a little while to be completed.  I need to find some fabric suitable for a little boy.

Friday Night Sew In

Friday Night Sew In was spent doing some relaxing cross stitch, I didn't have enough energy left to do anything else.
It's quite strange seeing a before and after picture of the evening's works, but great to see the progress made.

We had snow overnight, and it hasn't yet stopped this morning.  I'm thinking it will be the perfect opportunity to get some sewing machine time in.

Friday Night Sew In

Yesterday was a longer than planned day out, so by the evening it was getting difficult to keep my eyes open.
I stitched for as long as possible on the last heart, but couldn't keep them open long enough to get it finished.

Before you ask, I have been working on this every evening this week, and not just last night.  I just have a little left to complete in the upper left hand corner.  Hopefully, that will be done this weekend.

I'll look forward to catching up with what everyone else has been working on later.  Today, I think it's going to be another blue day, by way of a change.
