Pretty In Pink

Another quilty finish in less than two weeks, can't be bad.  I am very slowly working my way through the tops and getting them finished.  Most need the batting and fabric for the backs and bindings to be bought.  Where I can, I've used what I've had had home.
This was started earlier in the year, but I didn't have anything big enough, or suitable for the back.  This week I bought a piece of gingham, and added white to the top and bottom to make it big enough.
Then slowly, but surely, I quilted it during the day.  Once that was done, it didn't seem too much of a chore to do the binding.  Again, this was in white, and I hand sewed the binding to the back.
Not a bad day's work in my opinion.  Now I need to work out which top is next and what is needed.  In the meantime, I am sure there are some small projects to be catching up on.

Reunited with the Sewing Machine

The last couple of weeks seem to have been rather hectic.  There was housework I could no longer ignore that needed to be done and it's been a busy time with the boys, so time at home has been at a premium.  It was so lovely to be able to spend some time with the sewing machine before an appointment yesterday.

This is a project that should have been done last month, it's Mays UFO project, but it's better late than never.

The joined blocks are made up from leftovers from the jelly roll quilt I made last year.  I managed to find some fabric at a reduced price from the same line to create the panels and borders.
So far I've quilted in the ditch around the centre panels, but I am thinking of doing another one around the centre block.  I shall see how I feel before the binding goes on.
The backing fabric was also on offer, so I can't complain.  Now I am just waiting for some binding fabric so I can get this one labelled and finished.

In the pink

This month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge colour is pink, and I don't really like pink.  I got out my scraps and looked with dismay at them all.  I just didn't have a clue what to do with them.  After leaving them on the side for a couple of days, ideas slowly began to trickle through.

The first thing I did was to cut strips from four fabrics and join them, by adding some white, I came up with this.
This is big enough for a baby quilt or lap quilt, all I need to do is find some backing fabric.  I am thinking of a pink gingham and to bring the back over for the binding.  For the moment, I shall be putting to one side and thinking about what to do with the rest of the pink I have.

Nightime/Daytime

The new binding arrived last week, and although I waited a few days, the original binding didn't make an appearance, so I went ahead with plan B.

The binding wasn't the same fabric as used in the quilt, but it did match the colour of the teddies.  I used the teddy fabric for the backing.

That's another project off the UFO list completed and the mountain next to my sewing machine has reduced a little.

Quilt In a Day

At the beginning of the month, when I'd been sorting out all my green fabric, I also pulled this fabric out.  There was enough to do a quilt top, but it was languishing on the side as I didn't have enough fabric for the backing.  Over the month, I had thought of making a baby bag, but still had the problem of co ordinating fabric.

I then thought a pieced back would solve the problem.

As I didn't have any of the purple fabric left, I used more of the print for the binding.

I did simple straight line quilting, which meant all in all, I could get this put together in a few hours, especially, as it's only baby size.
