Slowly, I'm beginning to catch up with a few neglected projects. The next ones on the list were the blocks for the Skill Builder Sampler. I needed to catch up on five blocks. Three got done yesterday.
Block 12-House and tree-improvisational piecing, quite a challenge when you like things to be neatly set out and explained, but I am getting better.Bonus Block-my take on a waverunner block. Now it didn't matter on this one that there was no pattern, I was quite happy going with the flow.
Block 13-my favourite, a string block using paper foundation. I think I would love to do a whole quilt like this, great way to use scraps.
And, not to be forgotten, another Dorset button, this one with a buttonhole lace edging.
I just saw your blocks on Leila's flickr site - they are all lovely, considering you made them in record time! I gave the waverunner block a miss, as well as the last paper piecing block, as I thought it was overkill to do more triangles and squares using paper, when we'd just done a heap of them the normal way. I was hoping (still am) that Leila will focus on more traditional paper piecing next month - hexagons and other shapes.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks all look great! But I really like the house with the tree! Another beautiful button too! :0)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work as usual.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are all great. My favourite is the string block, too. I have made one towards a quilt. It is going to be a long time project, I think. The button you made is marvellous. Your progress on these is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to try a new technique. Even if you decide it isn't for you there is always something new. Cute house. The button is georgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love how you feel you've been neglecting projects when in reality you've been creating the most beautiful and intricate buttons and toggles.
ReplyDeleteThese really are lovely blocks.
